Prompt: September Eight - 5 & 6 - rust
"Okay, Sparkle, hold still," Thundercracker said, his voice lazy and unconcerned, even as his spark-mate bared her dentaplates at him for the nickname. She really couldn't do much more as he was working to get a rusty bolt out of her thigh armor from the rear.
"I am going to come up with a nickname for you if you don't stop calling me that," she said, but they both knew he wouldn't and she wouldn't. It was part of them. "Still can't believe I fell against the spikes."
"Ground buckle. Good reason to stay in the air next time."
"You hate carrying people, and I don't have time to get hover cushions installed, plus I'd still be too slow for you." Her intakes stuttered as the bolt came close to a hydraulic line, but Thundercracker got it free without nicking the line.
"Never mind hauling you — not now, anyway. But maybe 'Screamer can fix your jet-pack up better," Thundercracker mused.
"I already declined letting Wheeljack tinker with it, and you want me to let your mad scientist touch it?" Midnight asked as he began patching her plating.
"'Screamer's projects don't go boom."
"Okay, you have a point there on that."
