“Have a heart,” David pleaded. “You’ve no idea how tragic he gets when he wants something badly.”
“I’ve been out in the world a bit.” Sam’s voice was deceptively mild. “I daresay I’ve seen the like.”
“Then why don’t you help a fellow out?” David wheedled.
“I’ve told Randolph that he needs to consider talking to people.” Sam’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. “You too ought to try that with your friend.”
