"I have a papercut," Mick said as he slipped into NIN-ANA's medical clinic.
Amde looked up from her tablet and sighed.
"Lan and the Pandemonium have been gone for less than an hour," she replied.
"I wasn't going to stick my hand back in the sofa and see if I could catch it on that loose staple," Mick said with a little shrug. "That actually hurt and I've made a good effort not to drop anything down there since."
Amde didn't look sympathetic, but she still beckoned him over. Maybe he was pushing his luck a little, but it wasn't like any of them, Lan included, didn't expect this to happen. The cat had long since given the mice permission to play whatever games they wanted.
Mick held out his hand, complete with one finger with the tiniest of angry red lines on it. It was barely visible among his other scars, but Amde just nodded.
And then, before Mick could react, she had a disinfectant wipe on it and he was trying not to swear in a dead language or two.
Mick swore that was what got Amde to finally smile.
A minute later, bandaged up, Mick grinned back. "Stop by my quarters later, you know, welfare check and all."
"I certainly will," Amde replied, squeezing his hand - minus the bandaged finger - before letting go. "Get some rest."
Mick chuckled and gave her a little wave as he turned to leave.
He'd waited almost an entire hour.
Amde was probably messaging Lan already.
