Lan sat down on a park bench and leaned back. It was a beautiful day inside Gemma Caeli, just like ones he remembered from years before. He'd done the work he'd needed to do, but he'd also given the Pandemonium's crew the rest of the day to relax and take care of shopping or other errands.
He didn't really need anything, which was why he was sitting in the park and looking out across a quiet pond that seemed to be home to a trio of brown ducks.
His datapad beeped and Lan pulled it out, half-expecting it to be Gate asking for help with her bags.
[NIN-ANA: Are you sure you won't be over the Pande's weight limit?]
Lan blinked once before laughing. Of course his crew were using NIN-ANA's money now and Varuna would be seeing their balances suddenly drop.
[Solitaire: Depends what they're buying. Nobody bought a mobile suit, did they?]
There was a long pause after he'd sent the message and Lan frowned.
[Solitaire: No really, please tell me nobody bought a mobile suit.]
[NIN-ANA: Not yet. But would you do me a favor?]
[Solitaire: Name it.]
[NIN-ANA: Enable your camera and hold up your datapad.]
Lan sighed. Of course Varuna knew exactly where he was. Which meant... Ducks? He wanted to see the ducks?
It only took a moment to turn on the camera, with audio, though Lan had no idea what the actual video would look like by the time it got back to NIN-ANA.
"There's ducks," Lan said as he aimed the datapad at the pond. Of course, when was the last time Varuna saw a duck. Or a pond. Or grass or trees...
"And over here, a flower bed and a few weeds." Lan got to his feet and started walking, narrating the whole time as he passed decorative rocks and more flowers and a few strange art pieces.
Finally, his datapad beeped.
[Gate: Heeeeey Solitaire you would not believe the deal I just found on a mobile suit. We've got room, right?]
Lan winced.
"And that concludes the tour."
