A Big Man and a Small Girl (Fullmetal Alchemist/original; Alex Louis Armstrong & Jane Cook)
Title: A Big Man and a Small Girl
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist x Original (well, technically The Brothers Cattaneo, but I feel like that's too much information)
Pairing/Characters: Alex Louis Armstrong & Jane Cook
Content Notes: none
Prompt: September 3rd, 2 & 8 "just what I needed"
Jane just couldn't reach the top counter. She stretched and stood on her tiptoes, but it was just too high. She frowned. Perhaps there was someone around the area who could give her a hand? Maybe if she just peeked around the corner, the might find someone...?
Oh, goodness. That man was humongous. He had a tiny blond curl on his forehead and enormous muscles. That had worked out quite well.
"Um, excuse me?" she tapped his shoulder lightly. "Could you give me a hand with something?"
"Anything I can do to be of use to you," he flexed his muscles (Jane fought the urge to giggle).
"Please come with me then, over here..." She walked back to the place she had been stuck trying to reach the top counter. "I really need something off that shelf, but it's too high for me." She pointed out the object in question. "It's that bottle of morphine tablets. I'm going to have to administer some to a man with a painful surgery coming up." She frowned once more. "You'd think they wouldn't put up so high though."
The man suddenly picked her up, "Beg your pardon," and lifted her up to the morphine tablets. Her skirt blew up around her knees. She reached out and took the morphine off the shelf by herself.
"Oh," she wondered as he set her back down on the ground. "Well, hello and thank you, Mister-?"
"Armstrong," he said. "Alex Louis Armstrong."
This time she did laugh. Jane liked him immediately. He had an immensely likable quality to him. "I'm Jane Cook," she responded.
He reached out a large hand and took her hand in his, applying exactly the precise amount of pressure required in the situation. He was gentle.
"It's just what I needed," Jane said.
