Where There's Smoke (ST Voyager, Major Crimes, Kathryn Janeway, Sharon Raydor)

Title: Where There's Smoke
Fandom: Star Trek Voyager, Major Crimes
Pair: Kathryn Janeway/ Sharon Raydor
Content Warnings: N/A
Prompt: better than expected

Sharon arrives home to the smell of something burning and sighs. It's been a hell of day already — Major Crimes caught a truly awful case — and now there isn't even dinner. She knows that Kathryn means well, but that woman really should just stay away from every kitchen appliance other than the coffee maker.

Sharon walks in to the kitchen — expecting to find a flustered Kathryn amidst a mess of burnt food and smoke — only to find it empty and surprisingly clean. Sharon cautiously peeks in the oven and confirms that is where the burning smell is coming from… but whatever it was that had been burning is already gone, leaving only a stubborn odor in it's place.

"Kathryn?" she calls out, wondering if the other woman is even home. Maybe she went out to pick up dinner? When there is no answer, Sharon begins to make her way towards the bedroom. Comfy clothes and a glass of wine are just what the doctor ordered, and if Kathryn isn't back by the time she's cozy on the couch, Sharon will give her a call.

As Sharon approaches the bedroom, though, a different sort of burnt smell begins to invade her nostrils. Unlike the thick, acrid odor emanating from the oven, this burning smells warm, light, and a bit like vanilla. Sharon smiles to herself. She doesn't have to follow her nose to know that the scent is coming from the bathroom.

Sharon knocks lightly on the door and pushes it open. The room is dark, lit only by vanilla scented candles lined up on every available surface. The flames flicker gold against the mountain of silvery bubbles in the tub — bubbles that cover nearly every bit of Kathryn, except for the impish smile on her face.

"Welcome home," Kathryn purrs, her voice particularly smoky in her current, relaxed state.

"Room in there for two?" Sharon asks with a smile, already shedding her blazer and unzipping her dress. Kathryn only responds by raising an eyebrow and nodding toward the two glasses of wine sitting on the edge of the tub.

Kathryn pulls her knees up to make room as Sharon slides under the bubbles and leans forward to kiss her softly. "Hi," Sharon murmurs, and then retrieves one of the wine glasses before settling back against the opposite side of the tub with a relaxed sigh.

"Sorry about dinner," Kathryn says sheepishly.

"I wasn't really hungry anyway," Sharon replies, sinking further under the water and closing her eyes as Kathryn begins to rub her feet. "This is better than dinner."

"How was your day?" Kathryn asks.

Sharon opens her eyes and lifts her head, just enough to look Kathryn in the eye, and she smiles. "You know what? It's turning out a lot better than I expected."
