Then he said something, and she wasn't sure her ears were actually recovered from the Incident, because it sounded like something he'd said before vanishing out of her life.
"Indy? What did you just say?"
He raised up, leaning on an elbow, and met her eyes, enunciating like the professor he sometimes pretended to be.
"I love you, Marion. I did then, I do now, and — "
He could say no more, as she kissed him, afraid he'd leave. Again.
