Storm let out a long sigh, putting down his quill and flexing his hand, loosening his cramped muscles. That hadn't taken as long as he had feared, for once.

What time was it…? A glance out the window informed him that the God of Light had retired for the night some time ago and Storm leaned back on his chair, stretching. If it was night now, then that meant the last time he ate was…

Storm jumped when there was a knock at the door and after running his hand through his hair, making sure it wasn't an unkempt mess, he went to open his door.

On the other side was Leaf with a tray in his hands, a plate filled with food, a steaming teapot beside it. "I hadn't seen you in a while, and I wasn't sure if you'd eaten recently…"

"I…" Storm smiled warmly at him, opening his door further to let Leaf in. "Thank-" His stomach finished his sentence for him and he flushed, ducking his head. Maybe he had been working a little too long.

Leaf didn't acknowledge his growling stomach save for a soft smile, setting the tray on an empty chair. Storm closed the door and eyed his desk before deciding the chair really was the best place for the tray at the moment – trying to move the stacks of paperwork would end with them tumbling over. Possibly into the food.

It didn't take long for Storm to polish off the meal, he and Leaf sharing the tea, exchanging gossip between bites and sips. Once he was finished, his stomach sated, Storm set his cup down and smiled at Leaf. "Thank you," he said again, happy that his stomach didn't interrupt him this time.

"It's all right," Leaf said, his hands curled around his own cup. "Is there anything else you need?"

Well, there was one thing Storm could think of. "Ah, well…" He shifted, not sure to ask. Sun hadn't wanted to, and he'd taken up a lot of Leaf's time already.

Leaf didn't say anything, waiting for him to continue.

"Um, I was wanting to practice…not having to wink at parades." He fiddled with the hem of his sleeve, unsure how Leaf would react.

"Ah!" Leaf beamed at him. "Of course! What do you have to do?"

Oh, that was a little unexpected. "Well…" He shuffled closer to Leaf, until their shoulders were brushing against each other.

Okay, so he had touch Leaf's shoulder like this… Storm glanced back at Leaf to make sure that was all right, and while Leaf's eyes were a little wider than usual, they weren't wanting him to stop, so he continued.

Next, he had to lean over and brush Leaf's hair away from his face like that… That brought their faces closer, and Storm was close enough to notice Leaf's cheeks had gone pink, his breath shaky.

Storm pulled back, frowning. "Leaf…? If you didn't want-"

"It's not that," Leaf interrupted quickly, shaking his head. "I do want it. Ah-!"

Wait, he'd seen that kind of dazed expression before. But that usually meant… That couldn't be right. "…Leaf?" He was imagining it, because Leaf wouldn't be…

A self-conscious smile pulled at Leaf's lips. "I liked it."

Storm's own cheeks went hot as he realised what Leaf was saying. "Really?" he squeaked.

Leaf nodded.

Oh. Um. "D-do you want me to continue, then?" Which was a redundant thing to ask, because Leaf had already said he was okay with it but Storm couldn't help asking, feeling a little light-headed.

"Yeah."

This time, Storm's hand was a little unsteady as he swept Leaf's hair to the side again and tucked it behind his ear. His fingers hovered there once his hair was back in place.

But, now what? Winking at Leaf didn't seem right; this wasn't an act anymore and…

Leaf leaned towards him and kissed him on the cheek.

O-oh, that could happen next.
