Vanguard had so many festivals. Aisha didn't mind a single one of them, even if she didn't always participate. But the autumn city-wide costume party was one of her favorites. Half the time she didn't even recognize her fellow Otherworld Warriors, but that was part of the fun!
Monika had outdone herself, as usual; the area around the castle was awash in lantern-light and there were pumpkins everywhere. Even the decorations that had seemed silly while Aisha was helping make them looked great in the evening light.
She'd already spotted Neidhart and Albert in their costumes, and it was impossible to miss Monika. But the amount of masks and wigs and cloaks and everything else made her unsure about just who was wandering by where she sat.
But, until her companion for the evening arrived, she was content with watching and enjoying all the costumes.
"There are too many people." A blonde pirate sat down beside her and for a moment, Aisha thought it was Selma. But why would Selma dress up as a pirate when she was a pirate? Of course, Silver was sporting wings at the moment that Aisha rather hoped were just a costume…
"It's a festival," Aisha replied. The blonde pirate sighed and nodded. She had a sword at her side, likely real, high boots and a short shorts. A corset top was half-covered with a lined half-cloak. A bandanna covered the top of her hair, and her makeup was absolutely perfect.
"Monika really did a good job with it."
Aisha nodded. "She did. And the best parts haven't even started yet."
"Mmm. Maybe, I suppose…"
They continued talking for a bit longer, each accepting a handful of caramels from Liz as she wandered by, until Aisha was sure that her companion knew who she was but she still didn't…
Before Aisha could worry too much about it, she saw them: Noel escorting Wagnas through the crowd. And oh, Noel was also dressed as a pirate, so-
"Brother! Lord Wagnas!" Sure enough, the pirate beside her jumped up and rushed over to them, black wings fluffing from beneath the half-cloak that wasn't lined after all.
Aisha felt a little silly, but she supposed she could blame the growing twilight or anything else. Rocbouquet really didn't look like herself.
"Come on, Aisha," Rocbouquet called from tucked beneath her brother's arm. "Let's all walk around together!"
Aisha nodded and got to her feet, greeting Wagnas first with a wide smile.
She wouldn't tell any of them that Rocbouquet had fooled her.
And she certainly wouldn't say anything about Selma.
