A memory of Psmith’s piffle to Mr. Jarvis during their whirlwind summer in New York was squirming in the back of his mind, and he wished to heaven that Mr. Jarvis was here now. Psmith had gone into surgery four hours earlier, and the men who’d laid him out were at large, and the kitten had witnessed the whole dreadful mess, but…
“It’s not her fault she can’t tell you whom to punch,” the dark-haired man next to him suddenly said. “But we’ll find them anyway.” His smile was lethal.
