This was an uncomfortable conversation Lasswell was having. Uncomfortable, and necessary, he reminded himself, just like he reminded himself to be a decent person and look Akstar in the face while they talked.
Even though this wasn't Akstar.
Except it actually was.
He hadn't expected things to be this awkward --
"Lasswell."
No 'Your Majesty' here.
"Lasswell, I don't expect you to set aside everything instantaneously. It's awkward. We'll manage.
"I'll see the rest of my life outside that bastard's reach; that's good enough."
... That did help. Relaxing, Lasswell nodded.
"And you're welcome here, as long as you want."
