Julian's bark left Cherry blinking, startled. He wasn't usually like that! Before she could retort, though, the Duelist kept right on going --

"Don't say it. Just -- not today, Cherry. Not today."

She eyed him sharply, leaning an elbow on the table between them.

"What's wrong with trying to be just a bit optimistic in this mess?"

Green eyes flashed; Julian's expression going stony.

"So what're you going to do after it all, anyway, Cherry? Go home?"
