Jet Zero looked like he hadn't slept in a week, though Varuna knew it had only been nineteen hours. But Jet had been working every minute of the last eighteen, and Varuna admittedly hadn't been tracking Jet's time between waking up and when he'd sat down at the console they were sharing, coffee in one hand.
He wondered, a little bit, about how he looked. But he was not moving as frantically as Jet had been for most of the day. Varuna didn't need to type, though he could and did when it came down to it. He could work, virtually, far faster than Jet, but Jet was determined to make the corrections in real-time.
And, being plugged bodily into the console, Varuna had a bit of difficulty in moving around. Jet, at least, could fetch them both more coffee whenever necessary.
But Jet's tired, fragile smile suggested a certain degree of success and Varuna hoped his own expression was echoing that smile as he double-checked Jet's work.
"That set worked," Varuna said softly. He'd forced parameters beyond what he'd ever seen or recorded. Jet had countered and countered and finally found, virtually, a set that would work.
At least in theory.
But theory was a beginning.
"Are you sure?"
Varuna double-checked everything in seconds.
"Yes."
"Can it actually be implemented?"
"Not tonight," Varuna replied. He'd need to order a few things. And set up a testing area.
But first, they both needed to get a bit of rest. He reached up beneath long white hair to start unplugging himself and switched over to the quiet wireless he attached himself to normally.
"Not tonight," Jet echoed. He started closing out his own notes and, after a moment, started laughing.
Varuna had wondered how long it would take. Because they'd maybe finally done it-
He started laughing as well.
