Mitra paused at the door to one of the far lounges. Inside, a lone woman sat on one of the couches, apparently staring at a video of a sunset.
It seemed a little wrong to disturb her, but he'd already been out in that direction and he was curious. He hadn't been noticed, out in the hall by the lounge's viewing windows, and he could just continue on../.
Mitra knocked before entering, and Psyche turned and looked back at him.
"Mitra!" she said quickly. "You've been to Earth, right? You've seen a real sunset?"
"Many," Mitra replied as he walked over to sit down beside her. What he hadn't noticed was that she had not just her usual tablet with her, but another, along with an actual pencils and a paper notebook open and covered in notes.
"Tell me what it feels like," Psyche said, her expression hopeful. "I kinda got the idea for a game but I got to a sunset and I don't really understand it. I've only seen them in videos."
"It's been a while," Mitra admitted. Nearly three hundred years, but he wasn't going to be honest about that. He suspected that Psyche knew, anyway.
Mitra closed his eyes and thought about it. The video playing really wasn't the same.
"A feeling that the day is over, but also the beginning of night. A change, but just part of a cycle. It can be beautiful, but not always. Sometimes it's just sunset, and nothing more."
When Mitra opened his eyes, Psyche was staring at him.
"Just part of a cycle," Psyche said. "That I can understand."
But she smiled. And then quietly, they both watched the sun set.
