He found him on the western side of the rim, watching the sun go down slowly.
"It's not your fault."
K'lon looked up at B'lerion, nodding a bit.
"You helped her hold on, gave her someone to hold on to, you and S'peren."
"I know."
B'lerion maneuvered to sit beside the other rider, sighting down. Orlith's clutch were down there.
"It's hard, to grieve, to move on, to live, after going through all of that, knowing Pern as a whole has claimed them as theirs to mourn," B'lerion said with an astuteness that belied his reputation.
K'lon nodded, but did not resist the offered arm around his shoulders, the support.
"We have to, though," the blue rider said. "Only a few of us know the full cost that was paid, the truth."
"True." B'lerion squeezed lightly. "But… you're right. We have to. We give meaning to their sacrifices by living, by caring."
K'lon drew in a deep breath. "I'm glad your transfer was approved already."
"Are you thinking of transfer? No one would blame you if you went, and Igen needs solid riders."
"No. This… I need to give myself here, see the Pass out at Fort."
B'lerion nodded, understanding.
