Another Trial

‘Oma-kun learned something when he passed the Final Dead Room, I think,’ Nanami said. ‘If we learn that, we should learn the motive behind this case.’

‘Aw, Nanami-chan, you’ve seen straight through me,’ Oma said. ‘That’s what you want me to say, right? Too bad I never went into the Final Dead Room.’ He smiled at her, but Nanami didn’t seem phased by the lie at all.

‘No,’ she said, ‘there should be evidence that you went in.’

It was a shame. It had been fun, playing with her. Both the made-up games and the real ones. Even this final game, where he would die or she and all the others would.

Given what he had learned, he wouldn’t even mind losing. It wasn’t as if any of this was real to start with. They were both just ‘fan favourites’, brought back for another season.

But Nanami didn’t know that.

‘Then prove it,’ Oma said. He wanted to enjoy this game till the end.
