Prompt: March 28 - Sasarai & Chris “I don't know." "Let's find out together."
Chris wasn't usually very comfortable in the company of Bishop Sasarai. Today was no exception. "So, I was wondering if you might already be married?" he asked.
"Um, what gives you that impression?" Chris had no idea how he had gotten that ridiculous idea. She wasn't wearing a ring, for one thing, that was the main thing that gave secret weddings away...wasn't it?
"It's just the way you act around Sir Salome. You're very attentive to him and ask his opinion about almost everything."
Oh, well, maybe that was another way. "I- I don't know," she answered.
"That sounds good. Let's find out together!" He grasped her hand and pulled her off to (presumably) find Salome.
He was, predictably enough, in his office. "Sir Salome!" Sasarai burst in, with Chris pulled in behind him, looking a bit embarrassed. (What had he just proposed to her, Salome wondered). "Are you and Lady Chris somehow entangled in a secret marriage?"
Oh, so that was it. "No, we are not," Salome replied, "If we were, don't you believe Chris would have shared that with you?"
"She might have been too embarrassed too."
It was true that the very mention of a secret marriage sent her pale face red to the tips of her ears, but was that enough to make the bishop think that it was true?
"I apologize then for even bringing the possibility of it up." Sasarai dropped Chris' hand and gave a small bow in Salome's direction, turned and walked from the room.
"Oh, Goddess of Zexen," Chris said, with breath catching in her chest.
"...I assume that means you wouldn't be happy to play at it for a while."
"No," Chris said, decisively.
