Adair and Ice had an interesting, but relatively easy, relationship together. After making sure Sun was up and functioning enough to filter himself, Adair visited Ice to see how he was. Sometimes Ice had just woken up; other times, Ice was already baking, his room filled with tantalising scents, warm from the oven.
Reading what Ice wanted or said was different from understanding what Sun wanted: Sun said what he wanted under the veil of praising the God of Light, sometimes in the most convoluted way possible; Ice, on the other hand, sometimes didn't say a word for the entire day, and conveyed what he wanted through his body language, his eyes.
Adair didn't have any trouble understanding either of them.
"Sun would like some blueberry cookies," Adair said when the door was shut behind him, and Ice nodded once, already moving towards the piles of ingredients waiting on the table-top.
He turned to leave again, but Ice's raised eyebrow and tilt to his head made him pause. Patting his hands free of flour, Ice picked up a small pouch by the side of his bed and handed it to Adair.
"Oh, thank you!" Adair said, bowing, Ice's slight twitch of the lips telling him the bow wasn't needed, but it was both a habit and routine for them. Something they were used to.
Nodding to him, Adair left Ice's chambers, ready for whatever was going to happen that day.
