Julian didn't glance up from the panel he was working on; but he did down tools, at least.
"Isn't maintenance the opposite of wearing out, sir --"
"Don't give me no 'sir' bull, Boreas, git down here now."
Then Daiser's tone softened.
"Look, Julian, I know. It's hell, 'cause war is hell.
"But you can't get yer buddy back if you drop on your face at stupid o'clock.
"Git down off Kingfisher, and let's get some grub."
