When Jim the new labourer asked you to see his friend, you followed without asking questions. People in the East End knew that you would help anyone as a doctor. You were the same as a healer.
Jim's friend looked green and had a high fever, but luckily no signs of cholera.
"Do you want me to heal him now?"
"Please," Jim said while the patient shook his head and said, "Jim."
"I won't force myself on anyone," you said.
Jim looked desperate. You waited as you had been in his shoes.
"Please, Spock. This's our only hope," Jim said while wetting Spock's lips with a wet cloth.
Finally Spock nodded.
"Relax," you said before putting your hand on him.
Jim held his friend and whispered something soft and comforting. You looked away to preserve their privacy.
You knew very well that their feeling was a love that dared not speak its name, so you hoped that they could have their happy ending unlike Finch and you.
You gave as much of your energy as you could, and refused Jim's money because it was his wage for today.
They disappeared from work several days later. You hoped they were well.
