"You should eat something," Jim said while handing over a sandwich. Just as he expected, he interrupted Finch's chain of thoughts and befuddled him.
Finch stared at the sandwich as if it were poison or an important lead to the case. They might both be true to Finch, Jim conceded.
"You're not from around here, and do a bad job blending in. You lack knowledge of the most ordinary things, and haven't even heard of sun kissers," Finch said. "You didn't fall to the bait. Either you're completely uninterested in politics or you're playing a long game. What do you want to say about yourself?"

Jim winced inside, but he should know that he wouldn't pass before this world's equivalence of Sherlock Holmes. He wished that Spock was here. He would probably be amused. ("Vulcans don't get amused, Captain.")
"I'm looking for my friend," Jim said. "He's presumed dead, but I will bring him back to home."
Finch stiffened his lips. "What if it were more trouble than expected?"
"His soul is my responsibility."
