Alessan looked up as Moreta came in with a basket in hand, her riding leathers obviously borrowed from a larger person.
"Is it safe for you to be riding?" he could not help but ask.
"I am past the danger point, yes," Moreta promised. "We weyr-folk know the timing," and her voice was wry on the word, "of these things."
"I suppose you would." Alessan still took the basket and urged her to take the office chair. "You and Leri out of the Weyr?"
"Kamiana shooed us out, asked for a day of responsibility. The others are also choosing days ahead for themselves," Moreta told him.
"But… Orlith is young still," Alessan said, inviting her to speak more on the oddity.
"Yes, but the Plague showed us that leadership is a skill to learn and practice," Moreta answered. "So they wish to, with the pressure of Thread still above."
"In case you should be out, like when you were sick, or just after the second vaccination run," Alessan said, nodding. "Hmm. I don't think I need to put that in place here, not yet. Rill picks up the reins without bobbling."
That drew a smile from them both, for Nerilka.
