Mick grinned as he pulled his hair back into a long, shaggy ponytail. He'd already suited up, as had Lan.
They were just going to have a paintball match, but Lan was going to be in Chandi and Mick was going to give Angelos yet another try. It wouldn't end well and Mick had already planned a mostly-quiet night and following morning, but he wanted to do it.
He'd give it another try, just like Lan was going to give Chandi a shot. Jet had done a ton of work on both, and on Psyche's Kotharat.
"Don't go easy on me," Mick said to Lan. Jet was nearby but already ignoring them. He had screens everywhere, and was frantically typing.
"I won't. But you have to do the same."
"Oh, don't worry about that. Just, one thing. If I get quiet, like, too quiet, tow me in."
"Mick..."
Mick shook his head, ponytail swaying behind him. "That's just how Angelos is. Gets you, after a point. I do the best in it, out of everyone who's tried, but it still gets me sometimes. Chandi won't do that to you, so you'll be fine. But it has a kick to it these days, far more than Atropos ever did."
"Jet, what are you making?" Lan called.
"Adjustments," Jet replied. "Sorry!"
Lan sighed. Mick smiled.
"We'll just do our best," Mick said as he held out a fist. Lan bumped it with his own and nodded.
They'd go get a bit of data, at least. That was all they could do.
