"Do I even want to know what this cost?" Psyche asked. All she'd done was mention the soda she used to drink four colonies ago during a random conversation and there was Valentine, offering her an entire case.
"Probably not," Valentine admitted. "That just means you'll share?"
"Of course I will!" Psyche took the case from Valentine and stalked through her quarters to her little kitchenette and fridge. Thankfully, she'd just finished the second round of getting her space sorted out and had cords out of the way or under rugs and mats.
Valentine followed her, quietly looking around.
"You've done a lot."
"Yeah, it was about time," Psyche admitted. "This all feels really good and I'll be able to do a lot more, too."
She laughed.
"I really can't believe you remembered the soda. Like, that was months ago. Did it take that long to get here? Weren't you off on an assignment for half that time?"
Shaking her head, Psyche pulled out a couple of plastic tumblers from a cupboard. She only had the two; thankfully they were clean.
"It's even cold..."
One can each, and the other ten in the fridge anyway.
When she looked back to Valentine, he was obviously trying not to laugh.
"Okay, what am I missing?"
"I bought it at the store," Valentine admitted.
"The store?"
"On Consolation Colony. Brought it back with me in Meg last month."
Psyche blinked, her fingers hesitating on the pull-tab.
"It should be safe to open by now."
