Title: Temperature Check
Fandom: Forgotten Realms/Legend of Drizzt
Prompt: March Twenty-Seventh - 2 & 4 play a game
Content advisory: Age Gap (background), Power imbalance (background)
Characters/Relationship: Catti-brie/Alustriel Silverhand
Word Count: 200
The outing was what Alustriel called a temperature check. Catti-brie enjoyed being the one to go with her, even if her Lady and she had to wear glamour rings to cloak their identity.
She knew that Alustriel was concerned about the state of her people, and wanted to explore from the lowest to the highest places in the city. But Catti-brie had come to know it was also a kind of freedom for Alustriel, a chance to just be a random adventurer, traveling merchant… anything other than the Arch-Mage of Silverymoon, the Light of the North.
That was never more evident than when they wound up in a tavern and the dicing games captured Alustriel's attention. Despite knowing Alustriel used no magic to affect the dice at all, Catti-brie saw luck favor the Chosen more often than not. And the delight on Alustriel's face as she bought for all in the tavern?
That was a treasure that Catti-brie tucked inside her heart, a reminder of the softer moments, and the generosity. Alustriel embodied every facet of kindness that she wished her people to show.
"I'm the luckiest person here," Catti whispered in Alustriel's ear.
"I think it's mutual, my love."
