Sharr traced circles on Alustriel's stomach, amused when the unborn child was the one to react.

"Not long now," she said softly.

"No. Which means it is past time for me to make an admission, so you know what you may be facing with me, for our child."

Alustriel shifted so she could better look at him, but then there was more skin stretching from the child within.

"Are we sure there's only one?" Sharr asked, amazed at the protrusions.

"I feel there may be twins," she admitted, smiling slightly. "We will know in another moon or so.

"But you were saying?"

Sharr nodded absently, then actually looked at her. "I don't use my clan name at all because Mother was a wise woman who saw the ruin coming to Myth Drannor. She convinced Uncle… and they both disavowed their names.

"However, I know some blood magic can trace for heirs."

Alustriel nodded to all of that. "And you want me warned because half-human heirs would be reviled or used as pawns, if they were scried out."

"Yes. I didn't intend to keep you in the dark so long about the threat I can bring down."

She kissed him, silencing his apology that had been in the making.

"I have told you the threat I am. You have shared your threat. We can make plans from here," she assured him, "to safeguard all that we love."

He sighed softly, nodding. "That we can, and will."

They would protect their family.
