"Oh my god, this is heaven," Marion said with a sigh, sinking into the deep tub until only her head was above water.
"I thought you might need a little relaxation," Victoria said with a smile. "I'm not asking how I picked you up out of the little scrap; the last time you told me a story like that my dinner was cold before I managed to finish it."
Marion laughed. "Nothing too spectacular; they were actually looking for Dad. Again. I swear he left me nothing but trouble.
"But what about you? I haven't seen you since⦠right after the divorce?"
"Oh you mean my first one," Victoria said. "Landed in Paris, toasted the town, fell in love. I wound up going to the States with the man I met there, but it just wasn't working. A bit of money shelled out to me and a judge, and here I am, back in Europe.
"Just in time for a mess, it looks like?"
"Yeah, it sure is," Marion said with a sigh. "I'm going east, see what I can find that's out of the sights of the big powers."
Victoria nodded, then sighed. "I have to find my dear friend, and see if I can convince him to duck out of sight with me. Neither of us would be too favored by certain of those powers," she told her friend.
"Well, good luck. I'll drop telegrams, as long as that's possible, in the usual places."
"And so will I."
