Title: Invited Holiday
Fandom: The Mummy Series / Indiana Jones Series
Pairing/Characters: Marion and Evie
Content Notes: None
Prompt: September Nineteen Long Weekend
Marion tried not to feel too self-conscious as she followed the other woman through this manor house. There were pieces of art — duplications and works inspired by things this woman or her family had discovered over the decades — that could have financed her son's education.
"Don't worry. That one is a replica made to sell to tourists," Evie told her, seeing her looking at a papyrus rendition of the solar barque of Ra. "I'm on good terms with most of them."
"I didn't think you would — "
"I know, I just wanted to reassure you that it is an original Egyptian creation. Most of the art here was done by native artists, to try and be more fair for how many of my discoveries were brought away from Egypt."
"It belongs in a museum," Marion said with a wry grin and a roll of her eyes. "My… ex-fiancé was fond of that."
"I am glad that you came," Evie said, deftly moving away from mention of Dr. Jones. "It's not all that often I get a long holiday where my son is not demanding we go see the latest curiosity in the bogs and fens.
"I'm given to understand your own son recently began school?"
"Yes. Do you stay abreast of everyone adjacent to your field of study?" Marion decided to ask.
"Only those who get caught up in supernatural happenings, I promise." Evie guided her to a large apartment that included its own bath. "Through all of the letters we've exchanged, I feel as if there are things surrounding your adventure in Egypt that you might wish to … work out with someone who has twice been caught in the strange and unusual."
Marion let out a long sigh of relief. "I'd worried it was over Dad, or Indy. Yes, please!"
